So these were added pretty recently and i don't know if they are up on the Edie: girl on fire website but they are kinda of the Ciao Manhattan tapes except these aren't apart of it. Anyway these are just.... fascinating.

12:17 am - finished sculpture

polyphosphate
my finished sculpture of Edie as "The Broken Girl", an archetype inspired by her.
As far as materials I used, I built this on a mannequin, crackle painted her, oil painted her face, cut apart several medical braces, stained them, used gauze, a lot of glue and sewing, black tights and black bra (of course), and so on. I am proud of it, and I hope you Edie fans find it as beautiful and tragic as Edie herself. Thanks for looking and commenting before. Pardon my messy studio.

"Warhol" by Victor Bockris is probably my favourite book (and author) of the era that Edie was so much a part of. This was the book I read at age 15 that made me aware of who Edie was. It was the following descriptions of Edie that made me curious about her:

I had spent the summer writing in my notebooks and stuff... doodling. In early July, I was so bored I decided to combine Edie and Marilyn style together. I like the first one page better. (since I don't really know how to use this whole lj cut thing WELL... I'll just post it as is.) talk to you guys later. I'm going to take a nap now.

I received this today:

"Hello:

We represent the photographer Billy Name and are request you take down the photos of his that you illegally are exhibiting on your Edie Sedgwick Web site/blog. This artist makes his living from these images and you are interfering with his and this agency's abilities to conduct business.

Please direct your comments to me at this email and take them down now.

The fun has gone out of this community for me, it really has.  I don't know if I want to hand maintainership over to someone else, or just delete.  Oof.

Okay, kids, Nat Finkelstein has written me asking me to ask you to request permission from him if you're going to post his photos.  His email address is info@natfinkelstein.com. Regardless of anyone's personal view on this, it IS his legal right to control his copyrighted photos.  If he were to write LJ Abuse asking them to close this community for copyright infrigement (which he did not threaten to do in his email to me), they would, because they don't want to be sued themselves.  So please try to comply with this to avoid community deletion.

I realize that when you save photos from somewhere, the photographer was not credited, and so you don't know who it is.  That's a tricky thing to navigate, but I'd say to go ahead and post, and I'll ask Mr. Finkelstein to comment about it if it's one of his photographs.

Thanks!

11:01 am - little interview thing i found

beatlebyrd125

Sienna Miller’s Next Project: “The Edie Sedgwick movie. ‘Factory Girl’ it’s called, playing Edie Sedgwick. It’s about Edie Sedgwick who was Andie Warhol’s muse in the ‘60s and just kind of focusing on that quite pivotal moment in time. She was very destructive, a big drug addict and died at 28. It’s pretty sad.”

Sienna Miller Explains the Appeal of Playing Edie Sedgwick: “I just think anybody who is that self-destructive is intriguing. She had a real light. She was vibrant and fascinating and kind of started a big movement in the ‘60s, and burned out because she was misguided and abused. [She] just had an interesting life. I just think she’s a pretty tortured soul, but that’s quite fascinating in a sick kind of way.”

The Challenges of Tackling That Particular Role: “Playing somebody who really existed is challenging. You want to do it justice because I think you realize that you’re the one that’s carrying the mantle on. Accent, her voice, vocal physicalities, the way she smoked, the way she talked. Being able to be destructive but also have an audience sympathize with you. Not being seen as some drug addict, but actually to make people feel that she’s a drug addict as a result of a very tortured life - a lot. I’m terrified.”

Sienna Miller on Researching Sedgwick: “It’s fascinating. …Even if this film is terrible, the experience of researching it has been so fascinating. I was with her husband, Michael Post, in Santa Barbara last week and have been hanging out with the people from The Factory that are still alive. Brigid Berlin and Danny Fields and all these incredible, real ‘60s characters. There’s an awful lot of perks. I’m going to Pittsburgh this weekend to the Warhol museum. Guy Pearce is playing Andy Warhol and he’s fantastic. I think he’s going to do a great job. I’m very excited.”

I was contacted by Edie's niece on my edie 'myspace' site  http://www.myspace.com/ediesedgwick65
She was sending a notice about Misha & how she was a fraud using Sedgwick name.
I wrote her back after reading her message, and she was very kind in her response.

Since it seems important to her to get the word out on Misha, I wanted to post her initial message to me, here on this board.

Hi there:

By way of introduction, I am the daughter of Pamela Sedgwick, Edie's sister. We have been tracking an actor going by the name of Misha Sedgwick since the spring of this year. For the record, her real name is Misha Moore from San Diego. She usurped the Sedgwick name with any right whatsoever. We have requested the publication of retraction from Misha and corrections from the press. Just thought you would like to know.

Regards,
Leila Minturn Dwight

Just Make sure that when you print out, or trace the stencil there is a border outside of the black area (the part you cut out).

I saw this picture on COACD and thought it was interesting. It's a polaroid set of model Darla Baker (one of my favorites), and I thought this kind of represented the good side of Edie becoming more popular recently. Darla, aside from being a beautiful and talented model, seems very sweet with her own sense of style, and it's cool that she appreciates Edie enough to wear a shirt featuring her in her polaroids, which are an imporant set of pictures for a model.

I'll put the picture behind a cut, since it's kind of big...Read more...Collapse )

3:03 pm - So...

dancing_peacock
...In all places of the world...the little bead shop that i work at next to Java City in Sacramento California...guess who walks in to the bead shop...?

Let me start at the begining this lady came in to the bead shop and when it came time to ring her up...I noticed her last name was sedgwick (it said on her cretid card)...and this was an older lady (not to old) but in her 60's maybe 50's...and I just chuckled (making polit conversation) if she by any chance was related to Edie Sedgwick? And she gave me this big grin, she said yes, and said she was her cousin. and when i looked at her closer i could see a little Edie look a like, and she had the same eyes. But anyways she was telling me how everyone always askes her if she related to some famous guys wife (I forgot the name sorry) and said i was the first to ask about Edie.

To try and make this a short story, we ended up talking at the registar for about 10mins. And she was younger then Edie, and she told me all about how she heard stories about Edie when she was growing up. I was so excited...I thought I would just share. It really made my day. (Dorky I know)

I came across this picture in a forum and someone said it was Edie in the background. (Yes/No?) But I was actually really wondering... who is the guy posing in the camera and the two in the background? I thought I'd seen a picture of him actually with Edie, but I could just be getting confused. Anyone want to help out?

2:10 pm - "Moore" on Misha

bundybabe
Found this Post on TFS. IT was posted yesterday.

Alert!!! Fraudulent actor runs amok

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My name is Leila Minturn Dwight and I am one of two of Edie's nieces. For the record, there is someone named Misha who is attempting to pass herself off as our relative and she is not. In fact, her name is Misha Moore, and she is a fraud. I trust that no one else will accept her lies and deceipt. She is being investigated and will most certainly be sued for fraud and libel should her fraudulent assertions continue.

Growl!
